The perfect traditional rug enhances every room
Traditional Persian and Oriental rugs contribute warmth and sophisticated style to living spaces. They define areas, add texture, protect hardwood floors and can increase the value of a home — and they work with both traditional and modern décor.
Guidance
How we help you choose
Selecting a rug for different areas
Different rooms call for different characteristics depending on size, layout and foot traffic. We look at available floor space, furniture placement, existing flooring, and how visible you want the rug to be.
Pairing traditional rugs with contemporary décor
Traditional rugs aren't limited to traditionally decorated homes. In a modern interior they supply warmth, pattern, texture, colour and a natural focal point.
Protecting your rug with proper padding
Padding provides support, comfort and positioning while protecting the floor beneath the rug. We cut it to size and fit it when we deliver.
Reading the design
The vocabulary on the floor
Once you can name what you are looking at, choosing gets much easier.
Medallion
A single ornament at the centre with matching corner pieces. The most formal layout, and the one that most wants to be the focus of a room.
All-over
A repeating pattern with no centre. Easier to live with, easier to place furniture on, and more forgiving if the rug is partly covered.
Boteh
The teardrop figure the West calls paisley. Usually scattered across a field in rows.
Herati
A diamond with a rosette inside and curved leaves around it, repeated across the field. Extremely common and endlessly varied.
Prayer design
An arch at one end. Originally functional, now mostly seen on smaller pieces.
Abrash
Bands of slightly different colour where a new batch of hand-dyed wool began. A sign of hand work, not a flaw.
